Chapter 10 Decision [Bonus ]
She replied, " It's not that I pity you. I don't know; I always wanted children, but I cannot have any. It's a type of disease, just like your ailment." she stopped to gather her thoughts and continued, " I don't know it's like somehow we are connected, someone delivered you to us, even if you dont remember anything I want to provide you with a good home. I am not forcing you in any way. I just ---" she stopped midway seemingly struggling to express herself.
I picked up the conversation, " I don't know, even if I don't remember anything about my past, but I know this feeling. Like because of my ailment, people were suffering; I dont want to feel like baggage to others. You may want to do it right now, but living with me will change that perspective."
She immediately answered, " No, You dont know. I have met many children but never felt so right about like now. Just give us a chance."
" Just give us a chance and don't worry about your blindness; doctors said that you have a chance. We are looking for possible donors. You will get better, I promise then you will not feel like a burden anymore right? " a soft male voice resounded.
I could nod then I heard Apollo in my head, " Master, It is a great opportunity; Supreme God informed me that he would provide for you. They are the chosen ones to take the mantle of your foster parents. You can trust them."
I agreed in my head, but If I got better as they said, I would. I want to repay them. I never knew my parents, but I have dreamed how they would have loved me like this couple which warmed my heart. I promised this to myself in my heart.
I didn't know what kind of existence they were at that time. I always felt comical whenever I remember this moment in the future.
We then chatted for a few hours; mostly, she talked about her family members and their characters. Robert would chime in from time to time to provide more detailed information. Most of the things I didn't understand, whenever I brought up my treatment cost and said my concern, they would brush it off. This made me realize that in this world, this kind of thing was typical and didn't cost much, which made me relieved. They said they had little money and It didn't cost much. Naive if I say so myself.
From my understanding, I learned there was a big family, almost as big as several families. In Guri, Noble's families were usually this big, but after thinking about the medical science of this world, which is more advanced, it all made sense.
The conversation shifted to my name and how it's a hassle to address people with no words. You can't always make random noises to attract their attention. I asked them to suggest one for me temporarily.
Laura became excited; you can feel it in her voice. She started listing different names. Robert interrupted, " Honey, what about Samuel? You always liked that name. We would often bring up this topic during nighttime conversations."
Laura stopped and said, " Yes, you are right. What do you think about Samuel? Sami for short."
" I think It is a good name. Okay, from now on, I am Samuel. Nice to meet you again, Mr Robert and Mrs Laura. I am grateful that you, of all people, found me and are still helping me. Please take care of me from now on. " I said and bowed lightly, expressing my heart.
"Laura is over the moon now; I can see how much this meant for her. Samuel was so young, still so respectful. He can articulate his thoughts perfectly. He is kind and compassionate; I feel like if we had a son, he would be just like him. My heart felt light as a huge burden got lifted off it. Elders will be pleased with Samuel." Robert thought.
They were all chatting when they heard a knock on the ward's door.
Micheal said, " I see you are all getting along fine. Well, I got good news. We found a donor." he paused.
Everyone was happy hearing it, but the mood changed after the following sentence.
" She recently passed away due to Leukemia; her name was Elise, and her Parents wanted to help other children by donating her organs. They believe this way her memories will live on through others," he said calmly.
All three of them were silent when Robert said, " It is sad, but I think even after death Elise is helping others which is a good thing. Are Parents okay with this?"
" Yes, I have their entry in the database. They are also present in our left side wing where our morgue is located." Michael said.
" Laura, you stay here with Sami; I will go talk to them. If they need any help, I will see to it." Robert said.
Laura nodded. Samuel was confused about the whole thing when Apollo responded, sensing a change in his mentality, " Young master, People in this world sometimes donate different body parts after their death so they can provide a better future for the ones who need them. They can either consent to it while they are living or their family member can do it after for them."
Michael and Robert walked out together.
