Reincarnated as a Son of the Sword Saint and the Sage

Chapter 271 Raevender's Trait

Chapter 271  Raevender's Trait

We spent our time in the dungeon to put an end to our unfinished business. After conquering floors to floors, we faced off against the dungeon boss, and we beat it together with flying colors. I even became the dungeon master as a bonus.

Recently, I came across Riley, one of our servants, and she had circumstances. I gave her a hand in exchange for her body and fidelity. She had become a fine addition to my collection.

Speaking of Riley, she had been taking a short break to take care of her sick mother. When her mother fully recovered, which would take months, Riley would resign from her current job in the capital to become the first official servant of the mansion in the dungeon.

However, the main reason why we stayed here has not been fulfilled yet. But tonight, we will be celebrating that reason at the residence of the Raeven family.

"I really love seeing you in a dress, Sis."

"Are you making fun of me?"

"Not at all, since it's a fact."

Currently, my family, including Gabrielle, was inside a magic carriage, trailing the snowy streets of the Imperial Capital. Unfortunately, Mary did not go with us since she insisted not to. We were all clad in formal attire as we were going to attend a formal event.

Amidst the cold winter, the season could not stop us from going to the Raeven residence to celebrate the coming-of-age ceremony of their only daughter, Sophia, my fiancee.

Tonight, Sophia was not fifteen years old and had become a social adult, which meant that she had reached the age of consent and we could legally and morally do it.

But by Earth's standards, she was still physically and legally minor. However, this world was not Earth, nor was it following its accepted standards. Moreover, the FBI did not exist here; nothing could stop me from doing so.

But it was not the right time to think about it, I just had to leave it for another day. For now, I wanted to celebrate Sophia's new milestone with our families. Better get rid of these indecent thoughts for a while.

After a few minutes of carriage riding, we finally passed through the brass gates of Raeven's grandiose manor. As the carriage marched along the paved pathway, I noticed that there were carriages of rich merchants and nobles parked outside. Uncle Steville was a renowned businessman, so he had been associated with influential people in business and came here to celebrate.

After a turn around a fountain, the carriage stopped in front of the arched, three-stepped patio. A male servant in suit then opened the door of our carriage and politely received us. We got out of the carriage one after another before we graciously entered the foyer.

Once we reached the grand hall, where the event took place, the spacious chamber was filled with chairs and tables. The number of guests in the hall was quite large since the event was about to start.

Looking around, we saw Uncle Steville tending the guests. He was entertaining a count family, so he was quite busy. When he was done, he took a glance at us, and he quickly approached and welcomed us.

"Good evening, Viscountess Raevender and her family; welcome to our residence," Uncle said as he placed his right hand on his chest. "I am grateful that you are able to attend the celebration of our beloved daughter's social debut."

"Thanks for your warm welcome, Steville."

As Mother said those words, we took bows. Once the formal greetings were done, we could now start conversing in a casual manner and talk as family.

"I am happy for all of you coming here."

"It is the birthday of our niece, so we will absolutely come. Moreover, she will be a part of our family and will eventually become my daughter."

"Ha ha!" He cracked a chuckle. "First, you took the hand of my sister. Now, it's your son's turn on my daughter. It seems that Raphael is really after you, Mylene. Now that I think about it, does your lineage have certain attractions toward the ladies of the Raeven?"

"I don't really know, unfortunately. Right, Raphael?"

"Well, I guess it runs through our veins."

Somehow, the topic turned into our family's strange preference, chiefly about Mother's and mine. If I had a nickel for every time a light-brown-haired Raevender instantly fell in love with a black-haired Raeven woman, I would have two nickels. Which was not a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Right?

Though that only applies ostensibly, Big Sis was also a black-haired Raeven, and I loved her the same way I loved Mom. So I would have more than two nickels. I did not know if this trait would continue in the next generation, but I would make sure that our lineage persists.

"Brother, it seems that you made a grand expenditure for this event." Mom scanned the hall. "I think it is more grandiose than Louise's."

"If you think so, I think I may spend so much." Uncle scratched his head. "But it is all for my daughter, so it doesn't really matter to me."

"Seems so."

Actually, I agreed with Mom. This celebration was indeed more impressive than Big Sis's social debut. From the numbers of visitors to the foods. Well, Uncle was one of the richest merchants out there, so it would not hurt him if he spent this much once for a while.

"By the way, I am excited for the performance of Raphael later," he said. "Not only will he be a great lord, but a phenomenal artist as well."

"Don't mention it, Uncle."

Later on, I would play a piece in this event. The performance would be a new piano piece I composed for Sophia. Not a copy-pasted one, but my original composition.

"Now then, since you all are here, would you like to see Sophia?"

"Of course, Uncle," I replied. "It's been days since the last time I caught a glimpse of her graciousness, so I am longing to see her again."

"If so, please follow me."
