Chapter 220: You Forgot to Take Your Needle
Long Wu’s face began to contort in pain. He never imagined that Qiao Yin, a woman who looked so beautiful and seemingly easy to deceive, could be so ruthless!
“Do you know, Long Wu, you almost succeeded. If my grandmother wasn’t such a skilled doctor and had dealt with similar cases before, leaving me with valuable case records, then by now, I would have already lost my grandmother,” she told him.
Bearing the intense pain, Long Wu’s voice altered, “It wasn’t my fault. Someone wanted your grandmother dead. If it wasn’t me, someone else would’ve done it! You should be dealing with that person, not targeting me.”
Qiao Yin retained her calm expression, “Don’t worry, none of you will escape!”
“If the law doesn’t penalize you all, then I will take matters into my own hands and seek justice for my grandmother! You think you’re clever at exploiting legal loopholes? Sorry, but so am I.”
“The wounds from the needles won’t be visible, and getting checked for injuries will be useless. You should give up on that idea.”
“These two needles won’t kill you immediately. However, whenever it’s rainy or gloomy, you’ll suffer from excruciating headaches, just like today. Pain so severe it reaches your bones, making you wish you could behead yourself.”
“Coincidentally, Tianyun City has plenty of rainy days, so I advise you to move someplace like a desert, where there isn’t a drop of water. That way, you can extend your life for a few more years.”
In the midst of their conversation, Qiao Yin inserted the third needle.
Long Wu could no longer bear the pain and passed out.
Qiao Yin patiently woke him up and then, amidst his screams, she coldly asked, “Who hired you to kill my grandmother?”
“I, I truly do not know!”
“That person was careful; they didn’t directly contact me. Instead, they used a middleman who’s been engaged in shady activities for years. He never allows us to inquire about the employers. The more you know in this line of work, the quicker you die.”
“Please, don’t puncture me anymore. Let me go, I can tell you who the middleman is, you can find him!”
Qiao Yin felt disappointed.
Before she came here, she had already investigated Long Wu, who indeed had connections with a powerful, elusive middleman – someone she couldn’t provoke yet, nor could she use the same approach to extract information.
She also looked into the overseas account that transferred one million to Long Wu; it was a newly opened account, and the holder lived overseas as well. There wasn’t any valuable information there.
But she wouldn’t give up.
The trail of clues ended here. The enemy hidden in shadows might strike again, and her grandmother was still in danger. She still needed to find a way to locate that middleman.
With renewed resolve, Qiao Yin stood up and started to leave, clutching her umbrella.
Long Wu yelled in fear, “Qiao Yin, you’ve forgotten to take the needles out of my head! Hurry and remove them!”
Without turning back, Qiao Yin replied, “They will fall by themselves when the time comes.”
“Then how long will that take?”
She didn’t answer but left Long Wu’s villa, her heels clicking as she walked away, then drove away.
Not long after she left, the door of the villa opened again.
This time, two men entered.
One was tall and upright, dressed in a crisp suit, while the other man held a black umbrella to shield him from the cold rain.
Long Wu’s head was aching so much that his vision was blurring, he felt exactly as Qiao Yin said – the pain was so severe he wished he could chop his own head off!
Hearing their footsteps, he weakly asked, “Who is it? Who’s there? I’m almost dead. Please, let me be…”
“Yu Fei, check it out.”
Yu Fei complied, handed the umbrella to Lu Lingche and then squatted to inspect.
The moment his hand touched Long Wu’s hair, Long Wu cried out in agony, “Don’t touch my head! I have three needles in my head!”
