Chapter 59 Places And Implications

"Please?" Viktoria Cadis smiled triumphantly.

"Miss Cadis. Please." Serena gritted out those words and the other girl nodded in satisfaction.

"Alright, this way please." Viktoria turned around and then started walking down the hallway, her bunny slippers now being in complete view as she merrily walked.

Lukas wanted to say a word or two to Serena, but after taking a good look at her face, decided not to. He instead started to walk and soon after, Serena walked beside him and rubbed her forehead.

"Now you know the insane lengths I must go through if I ever will obtain that relic–"

"What did you say?" Viktoria stopped in her tracks and glanced over her shoulder.

Serena smiled tightly. "I said, the Vardoken House is a lot more palatable than you."

"Hmmm… well, I never really had any problems with them." Viktoria Cadis shrugged. "It\'s always the elders of the society that have their own issues brought up to them and you were never backing them anyway. Never found the reason to. After all, they could potentially remove–"

"Enough." Serena cut her off.

"Oh brother," Viktoria sighed aloud and then continued on.

Lukas couldn\'t help but become a little more serious after hearing the word Vardoken. It only came to him now that when Stacy was dragged by the blonde Vampire in the party–she was part of the Vardoken House.

To him, she had always just been Stacy. Stacy the smart, thoughtful clerk at VitaBlood.

Who knew that the people that he had actually been searching for were just under his nose this entire time? Lukas couldn\'t help but feel stupid and yet at the same time, realized that Stacy wouldn\'t have gone parading her history either so that made sense too.

Soon enough, Viktoria Cadis went to a big metal door and flicked her finger idly. The heavy door quickly swung open without a hint of resistance which shocked Lukas–he had seen Gilbert open the door at the front but didn\'t realize that the owner could do the same.

Did it mean that she fell under the Overlord archetype? It didn\'t feel like that. Nor did it feel like she fell under the Seducer archetype either. Lukas was now a little more thoughtful, especially because he started taking the Overlord path, but for now, he witnessed a spectacular sight.

The hallways were filled with weapons on display, but the huge metal door contained countless weapons in supply. There were at least a hundred of each type of weapon ever possible and it filled him with awe.

"Choose your poison." Viktoria glanced at him and grinned. "Are you going to be a bodyguard? Might I recommend–"

"Oh, I\'m going outside." Lukas said.

"A Hunter then? Something like a dagger–"

"He\'s not heading towards human territory. He\'s heading down the wilderness to find a blood gourd." Serena cut her off. "We can\'t afford any simple weapon that would break after some time. We need something that can actually slay creatures far more dangerous than an ordinary human."

"W-wait, what?" Viktoria\'s eyes widened. "But nobody has ever been to… after the expedition and–"

"Enough."

"I\'m just curious!" Viktoria pouted. "That means that he might actually pass by some other cities along the way then. Hey, butler boy–would you mind going through some errands for me? I\'ll make it worth your time!"

"Other cities?" Lukas raised a brow.

"Huh. Did you grow up in a garbage bin or what?" Viktoria raised a brow back.

"I was raised in an orphanage."

"Oh. Same thing then–I heard that the education system for them was horrible. Not really equipping most for life since you guys are so so many… but ah, I am digressing." Viktoria Cadis smiled.

For some reason, it finally seemed like she was turning serious and even informative. Something Lukas hadn\'t expected after her initial appearance, but once again, it showed layers.

"There are various Vampire settlements across the continent, surely you must have come from the nearby villages–well, before they got attacked during the Great War. But there are other major cities that are home to our kind. The city of Lux is the nearest to the borders of the human lands."

Lukas nodded slowly.

"And there\'s the one closest to the lycan tribes–the city of Umbra. Um, they\'re the more religious nut, I don\'t recommend going there since they kinda trade with the lycans. Honestly they\'re a bit of a black sheep? Which is kinda funny since they associate with–"

"Stop. He doesn\'t need a lesson on geography right now." Serena pinched the bridge of her nose. "And he doesn\'t need to go on another errand just for you. Do you even know why we\'re looking for the blood gourd? You obviously don\'t–"

"It\'s known for its medicinal properties, Serena." Viktoria wrinkled her nose. "Surely, you don\'t expect me to not know–oh wait, you didn\'t know? Of course you wouldn\'t–you don\'t read."

Serena frowned. "How do you–"

"Well, I\'m guessing you learned this from the Vardokens? I mean it\'s easy enough to pop open a book and know these things, but being able to fully manifest the capacity of the blood gourd and other secrets of botany is probably something only they can do." Viktoria shrugged as she stepped inside of the vault.

Serena sighed and just didn\'t say anything.

Lukas on the other hand couldn\'t help but realize the implications. When he originally bought Vampire Nightlife, the clerk said that it was a special and last copy available. Did it mean that he was the only one who became a Vampire?

Or did it mean that there were other people like him?

Lukas hadn\'t met anyone who seemed human as well–but what if the copies sent them to other cities instead of Lux? That almost seemed like a stretch and yet was also highly possible.

Honestly, he didn\'t know. He might have decided to play the role of Lukas and live as a Vampire, but it also didn\'t hurt to know the truth on why everything became like this?

For now though, he would focus on the weapons.

"Can we have three weapons, please? One for me and two for my friends–"
