Chapter 1148 - Desperate Grounds

Chapter 1148: Desperate Grounds

The situation around the Cosmic Gate was tense.

*Whoosh! Whoosh!*

The warriors of the Law Realm arrived in batches, their faces grave and many of them wounded.

The frenzied defensive battle at the Cosmic Gate had yet to fade from memory, but a new danger was already here. The Law Realm would once more have to fight with its back to the water.

The Skywing wolves strode out of a spatial gate, the various warriors around all looking at them with respect. The Skywings were no longer just a clan but a real legend, instead!

“Look! The Skywings are here!”

“Grand Ancestor, hurry and give us your orders! Everyone is waiting!” shouted the warriors.

Xia Gucheng waved his hand and replied, “Everyone, don’t panic! Let me get a clear understanding of the situation first! Leaders of all clans present, inform your warriors Law Sage and above to assemble at once!”

Xia Gucheng’s voice was loud and resolute, inspiring confidence in the warriors, causing their faces to relax. After all, the Skywings had proven their power multiple times before. As long as these madmen were around, the Law Realm still had hope, or at least that was what they all thought.

“Old man, we’re in trouble this time,” Xia Guanghai walked up to Xia Gucheng and whispered.

“What happened?” Xia Gucheng asked.

Xia Guanghai pointed down below. “The Cosmic Gate has been under the constant surveillance of our search specialists. Several minutes later, those below sent word that the Inverse had suddenly withdrawn their guards in the passage, and they were able to somewhat sense a massive metallic object moving in the direction of the Cosmic Gate.

“The seal prevents us from getting a complete understanding of it, but the three searchers at the time all confirmed that it’s something of an enormous size, or else it wouldn’t give off such a clear signal.”

Xia Gucheng frowned and gave a slight nod. He waved his hand at his clan’s searcher, Xia Geng, and said, “You go and take a look.”

“Yes!” Xia Geng went off, and everyone else restlessly waited for his report.

The seal meant that even the strongest search specialist could only detect weak signals at the border region, from there conjecturing the movements of the Inverse.

Now that the huge warship was approaching, the signal it gave was coming in loud and clear. It was apparent that only something gargantuan could give off a signal that was able to penetrate through the barrier and enter the minds of these search specialists.

Xia Geng quickly jumped out of the Abyss, his face slightly pale as he walked up to Xia Gucheng and whispered, “It’s true. The signal is very clear. The enemy warriors have retreated, and all that’s left is that giant object moving toward us. From the signal, it’s easy to see that it’s made of metal. It’s probably a warship.”

“A warship?!” Xia Gucheng was startled. “A very big warship?”

Xia Geng exhaled. “It’s extremely big. Xia Fei’s Titans are each the size of a planet, but a conservative estimate of that thing’s size is several dozen planets!”

Everyone went pale in shock. The Law Realm had utterly been shocked by Xia Fei’s planet-sized warships. They simply could not believe that an even larger warship would appear.

Xia Gucheng turned to look at Hosu, who was the only warrior here from the Alpha Universe, hoping that the former could offer some useful information.

Hosu shook his head. “One, I don’t know what that giant warship is. Two, that thing truly is an enormous threat to the seal I laid down, and this I understand more than anyone else. Three, I no longer have the ability to apply another seal.”

Xia Gucheng thought for a few seconds, and then he erupted in laughter, his eyes exploding with bone-chilling killing intent.

“Relax. The Law Realm is our home, so there’s no reason to rely solely on your help. The Law Realm isn’t the same as before, and though the Inverse are very strong, I’ll make sure that they’ll lose their arms!” Xia Gucheng said coldly.

Everyone was taken aback. They all knew that the Skywing grand ancestor was not one to bluff, for these madmen always did what they said!

“Right! If we fight to the death, we’re not guaranteed to lose!”

“Skywings, we’ll follow your lead!”

The warriors grew excited. In the previous war, the Law Realm, which had lost many warriors, regarded the Inverse as a mortal foe!

“Xia Guanghai, notify the Mech Clan. Have them bring out all of Xia Fei’s Titans!”

“I already notified them. Sentinel Goddess Sophie will be personally leading the force, and they’re currently on their way to the spatial gate.”

“Good! We’ll wait here and kill anyone who tries to get through!” Xia Gucheng raised an arm and roared.

The power of leadership was immense, which was why the saying went that a single burning soldier could set the entire army aflame. The Law Realm might have been the weaker side, but it had the Skywings! The craziest of the crazies!

...

On the other side of the Cosmic Gate, in the Alpha Universe, which represented the higher realm of dark energy, a warship of unimaginable size was slowly approaching the gate.

The Titans and the Inverse warship were both warships of massive size, but they gave off completely different auras. The Titans were frenzied beasts, lions with their fangs bared, but the Inverse warship was a mysterious sea urchin, its weird and enormous body inextricably associated with venom and conspiracy.

“Strange… Why are these warships backing up?” Onboard the Silver Specter, Ulan frowned.

Xia Fei snorted. “To pick up speed. For it to have the maximum effect, it needs some distance for acceleration. That way, it can ram into the Cosmic Gate with the greatest impact possible.”

Fuchen and Ulan nodded. This method was similar to how Xia Fei used inertia to travel in a curve. It was all to build up speed.

Something even more shocking happened next. Numerous small- and medium-sized warships entered the massive capital ship, making up an uncountably vast army. There were so many ships and squadrons that they blotted out the stars.

“Why are they going into the warship? Wouldn’t it be better to guard the perimeter?” Radix asked curiously.

Xia Fei explained. “Maybe they know that the moment this superwarship activates, it’ll create an enormous shockwave that can damage the small warships nearby. Another possibility is that the Inverse saw the crazy side of the Law Realm in the last battle, and they no longer want to suffer too many losses trying to break out of the encirclement, so they plan to use this giant ship to send their army straight into the belly of the Law Realm and get around the encirclement.”

Everyone was startled. Both of these conjectures implied that the Inverse had put some thorough research into the Law Realm this time, which was not good news.

However, Xia Fei surprisingly smiled. He lit a cigarette and said indifferently, “You brought this upon yourselves; don’t blame me for this.”

...

The immense warship moved slowly. Moreover, moving around an army was not easy, so Xia Fei ended up waiting a whole four hours.

A tense mood filled the inside of the warship. In the cargo bay, the Aurora Clan warriors waited. They had no idea what they were about to face, only that they were probably going to break the clan’s law against killing.

Xia Fei, Fuchen, and Ulan were also waiting, waiting for what Xia Fei believed as the ideal moment.

Strangely, Xia Fei had yet to give the order, allowing the Inverse to complete their prep work. The Silver Specter was like a venomous snake, quietly lurking in an asteroid belt.

*Rumble!*

The sea-urchin-like ship began to spew dazzling flames. One flame, two, three! The entire back half of the ship was fitted with several dozen thrusters! All of them activated, creating sounds like the roars of a monster!

The speed began to increase, the strange warship moving faster and faster!

The warship was shaking!

All of space was shaking!

In this situation, Xia Fei still remained incomprehensibly calm! He silently smoked his cigarette, a sinister glint in his eyes.

Xia Fei was very calm, but Fuchen and Ulan could no longer hold themselves back. They did not know what Xia Fei’s plan was, but they all felt like he was in the middle of losing his last chance!

“You’re still not doing anything?! It’ll be too late soon!”

“Trust me when I say that this guy’s energy value is terrifying! The Cosmic Gate won’t be able to stop it!”

The two Spiritualists offered their opinions, but Xia Fei just closed his eyes and said, “In my home, there’s a saying that success can only be achieved when on desperate grounds. Trust me; what I want isn’t a win but rather to wipe that wicked race off the face of the universe! As such, we must take on the maximum risk!”

Although Xia Fei’s eyes were closed, his voice brimmed with a resolve that transcended all!

No doubt that Xia Fei was a crazy gambler, and he was taking a gamble this time as well!

He was gambling with his fate and the fate of the Law Realm!

Ulan and Fuchen sighed and forced themselves to keep watching. Their overly nervous states prevented them from noticing that the normally talkative Radix had not said anything for several hours now. It was as if he were holding himself back, just awaiting Xia Fei’s order.

*Rumble!*

The ship soon reached maximum speed, a speed enough to ram through space! The sea urchin ship turned red as it slammed into the Cosmic Gate that protected the Law Realm!

...

The Law Realm!

The fabric of space trembled, fiercely trembled!

It was a sound that could break the mind. Even the Inverse army of trillions from last time could not even match one-thousandth of this sound!

Pressure!

Unbelievable pressure!

No one knew what would emerge from the Cosmic Gate, and fear had many of the warriors verging on insanity!

“Xia Geng, what in the world is it?” Grand Ancestor Xia Gucheng asked grimly. It was clear that the Law Realm’s strongest war god was being rather serious right now.

“I don’t know; I don’t know!” responded Xia Geng rather frantically, merely repeating his words.

*Rumble!*

Finally, that giant warship rammed through the Cosmic Gate, its bizarre form flying through space!

Frenzied killing intent engulfed the stars, as if countless death gods were looking out from the massive ship, staring at each one of them!

“It’s down! The Cosmic Gate is down! We’re done for!” Someone covered their head and yelled this.

Everyone’s hearts constricted, the blood in their veins freezing.
