Chapter 117 Your Life, Your Choice 1
117 Your Life, Your Choice 1
It was only natural for the Gu family to wish for her to settle with a man with the same status as her. This was one of the rare times that He Lianchen regretted not fighting with his older brother for his right to his inheritance.
If he was on the same status as Gu Yuyao, he would have a better chance to convince her family to ask for her hand in marriage.
"If I made another deal with you, would you help me?" He asked Feng Tianyi.
The only person who had a chance of helping him ask Gu Yuyao\'s hand for marriage would be this devil, who was obviously preoccupied with the empress sitting next to him. In fact, the previous deal he made with Feng Tianyi had already been fulfilled, and he was now free to choose his own path. But he remained as nothing else was able to catch his eye yet.
Perhaps it was also because he\'d been loyal to Feng Tianyi all these years that he didn\'t think he would be able to find another superior as good as the devil was.
"Hmm? Another deal? What are you willing to give up this time?" Feng Tianyi\'s interest then shifted to He Lianchen. After all, this devil wouldn\'t enter a deal with anyone if it wasn\'t profitable or of interest to him at all.
Except for the deal he made with the empress, which was out of impulse. One that he really didn\'t give much thought on. However, Feng Tianyi admitted that he\'d been curious… curious to get to know the woman that his brother had been wary of.
"Oh, now I have your attention?" He Lianchen tried not to roll his eyes at the absurdity of the situation this devil was in. It used to be women ogling over him, trying to catch his attention but now, Feng Tianyi was the one who\'d been trying hard for Tang Moyu to notice him.
Feng Tianyi shrugged and placed another toast on Tang Moyu\'s plate, seeing that she\'d already finished the first one he gave her earlier. This woman sure knows how to eat. Just where did all those calories she\'d consume go anyway? He thought.
"I\'m listening." He told He Lianchen firmly. He always took his deals seriously.
Meanwhile, Tang Moyu felt lost as to what they were talking about. What was this deal He Lianchen mentioned with all seriousness? What could Qin Jiran possibly do to help Gu Yuyao?
Even she didn\'t know if she could do anything to help Yaoyao except to assure her that He Lianchen wouldn\'t do stupid things while she was gone.
Tang Moyu snapped her head towards him with wide eyes.
\'What the hell?\' She thought. A lifetime of servitude? Wasn\'t that too much for a deal?
Looking at He Lianchen\'s face, she could tell that he was dead serious this time, but for him to surrender his freedom for Gu Yuyao\'s sake, wasn\'t it too much?
"Why?" Feng Tianyi questioned. He also wanted to know why his good friend was willing to do this.
"Because Yaoyao is my life. If I lose her again, I don\'t think…" He Lianchen trailed off, his unspoken words easily understood by the devil.
When he first met He Lianchen, Gu Yuyao had just abandoned him and his older brother was hunting him down. By entering a deal with him, He Lianchen was able to free himself from his family. However, he was still a man and an empty shell at the same time.
The second part of their deal was for Feng Tianyi to find out Gu Yuyao\'s current whereabouts and why she left. It was only then that He Lianchen found out the real identity of the woman he\'d been with and why she was always guarded whenever they were out.
"Gu Yuyao went to Philadelphia and this is her current address." Feng Tianyi had placed a piece of paper in front of him, giving him the exact location of his woman. Yet He Lianchen didn\'t bother to follow her and go see her himself.
The pain of abandonment still hurt, but it consoled him that she was doing well without him. If she was happy, then he had no right to interfere anymore. As long as she was happy, He Lianchen was willing to stay where she\'d left him and mend his broken heart, alone.
When she came back to his life, he was truly ecstatic but worried at the same time. However, now, He Lianchen didn\'t think he would be able to live without her again. He didn\'t want to lose her again. By offering his servitude to the devil, as long as he would have Gu Yuyao, it would be worth it.
Feng Tianyi shook his head much to He Lianchen disappointment. So he truly couldn\'t do anything for Yaoyao?
"You don\'t need to offer a lifetime of servitude to me, He Lianchen. Didn\'t I tell you? Your life, your choice. You should never offer something you don\'t have. I don\'t like the feeling of being blamed for something I could change but didn\'t. I will help you, not because you asked me, but because you are my sworn brother." The devil told him, catching both Tang Moyu and He Lianchen off guard.
He Lianchen gaped at him and wondered where the arrogant and temperamental devil had gone? Surely, this wasn\'t what he expected from him.
