Chapter 390 - You Matter to Me Now (2)
His chin rested on her head as they looked at the setting sun outside the window. He had moved her to stand in front of him, her back pressed against his c.h.e.s.t. His arms were wrapped around her, warming her, to protect her in this little haven he temporarily shared with her.
"We cannot change the past, Moyu." He murmured to her.
"I know. But our past could define our future. It\'s not easy to overlook." The empress retorted.
"I know you are afraid, Moyu. But I assure you, you aren\'t alone in this. Do you know? Fear has two meanings. Forget everything and run or face everything and rise. The choice is yours, but whatever your decision is, I\'ll respect it."
"Don\'t say it like that." Tang Moyu muttered.
"Like what?" He raised a brow. "It\'s the truth, isn\'t it? I was the one who was responsible for you losing everything."
"No, Tianyi. You gave me everything." Tang Moyu corrected him. "You gave me Baobao and Little Star. I think that\'s the best thing I have received from someone in this lifetime."
Her hand came up to touch his face, her eyes saddened as she looked at him.
Feng Tianyi was taken aback by her words, it made him feel light.
"Maybe we had Baobao and Little Star at the wrong time, but I admit I\'m glad it was you. I\'m glad it was you, even if the circ.u.mstances were not all that pleasant."
His forehead rested on hers as his eyes flickered with regret.
"You matter to me now, Tianyi. So don\'t talk like you should take all the blame. It was me who was drugged that night and ended up on your bed. You couldn\'t have known who I was."
Feng Tianyi accepted those words with a gentle kiss.
She turned and his arms went around her. His hand gripped her hair as his emotion fueled their kiss. He kissed her with an affection and tenderness he had not known he could feel.
It was one of the best memories that Xiao Bao and Little Star had since they came with their mommy from abroad. This was their first time seeing the beach, and what made it extra special was that they came with a daddy in tow.
Feng Tianyi had informed them about him telling the truth to their mother and they were both nervous that their mommy would be mad at them and at their daddy. Both paid attention to their mommy and noticed her unusual silence today, though she still tried to smile at them, pretending everything was alright.
If the little buns noticed the change of behaviour in their parents, they didn\'t let it show.
The sky was darkening and their dinner was approaching with haste. Feng Tianyi stirred the big pit for a bit before he transferred a bit of the soup in a saucer to give it a good taste. Pleased with its taste, he covered the pot and allowed Song Fengyan to bring it outside, where everyone was waiting.
He followed shortly after and took a seat next to Tang Moyu, who was assisting their daughter with her meal.
"Wow. You already started without waiting for us?" Song Fengyan teased Little Star, who was sitting across him on the table.
The little girl stuck her tongue out at him before picking up the crab meat her mother had shredded for her.
"I\'m hungry, Uncle Yan that\'s why." She reasoned out to Song Fengyan. "Because some baddie took the ice cream I left this morning in the freezer." Her round eyes narrowing on him.
"Oops. Busted~" They heard Tang Beixuan burst into a round of laughter while Song Fengyan coughed awkwardly on his hand, with a slight blush on his face.
"I told you Little Star would notice if it\'s gone. Now you owe her one." Feng Tianyi nonchalantly said before passing the plate of fish he had deboned for Tang Moyu.
Living together for months now, the devil knows that his empress wasn\'t fond of fish, especially if it has a lot of bones on it. Even their daughter seemed to share the same trait with her mother and rarely eat fish unless it was deboned completely.
"Aha! So it was you, Uncle Yan!" Little Star pointed a finger to Song Fengyan accusingly, her cute face was with a slight pout. Daddy had bought her and her Yu Gege an ice cream last night, but she wasn\'t able to eat hers as she was too stuffed from their dinner. She decided to leave it in the freezer, only to come home later to find that it was already missing.
"Okay. Okay. I\'m going to buy you more once we get home. Just tell me what flavor you want. Uncle Yan will get it for you. I promise!" Song Fengyan conceded, knowing that he cannot win against his niece. For a moment, he wondered if the child he had with Lan Xiyan would be close to Little Star and Xiao Bao\'s age. The twins might be a little older, if Lan Xiyan hadn\'t aborted their child.
Perhaps this was the reason why he was completely wrapped around the fingers of the devil\'s little buns. The love and attention he could never give to his own child had been redirected to the twins, whether he was aware of it or not.
He had cried for his child\'s death for months, regretting not being able to find out about it sooner. If he had known that Lan Xiyan had gotten pregnant earlier, he might have been able to change her mind from aborting their child.
He had kept all of it to himself, not daring to open up to Feng Tianyi or He Lianchen, who were his closest friends. He was very angry, not only at Lan Xiyan but at himself.
