Chapter 446 - First Dose of Their Own Medicine (2)
Tang Moyu couldn\'t believe what she had just heard. So Yun Zhen managed tosave her from Xing Yiyue\'s scheme, but she was the one who lost her way and ended up in Feng Tianyi\'s bed? No one had forced her to go there but herself?
Did this mean that it was her own fault? That she was the one responsible for what happened to her that night? Still, if Xing Yiyue hadn\'t schemed behind her back, she wouldn\'t lose everything she had almost six years ago.
Silence engulfed the two as the memories of the past plagued their minds. One was with regrets, while others contemplated if she had truly lost everything. In fact, Tang Moyu was starting to think that she had been saved from marrying Feng Tianhua and being blinded by Zhang Wuying\'s lies.
If she truly ended up as Feng Tianhua\'s wife, she would never know the truth about her identity. She probably wouldn\'t even know what freedom feels like. In her eyes, the Tang family was just a frog trapped in a well. She had seen things, learned much more outside the family that had kept her on a leash and in a cage for years.
Right now, Tang Moyu was living the life she wanted without worrying about what people would think of her or pushing herself to please a person who could never love her as she was. Hadn\'t she wasted twenty five years trying to win Zhang Wuying and the Tang family\'s approval?
Now that she finally knew the truth about what happened that night, she and Feng Tianyi would be able to move forward and focus on the small family they built together.
"Moyu, I\'m sorry. I should have done better…" She heard Yun Zhen apologize, but it wouldn\'t change anything now.
"It\'s fine. Perhaps you and I aren\'t meant to be." She said, adjusting the strap of her bag over her shoulder, turning to leave.
"Don\'t hold it against yourself. Have you ever thought that maybe everything happened for a reason? I\'m not blaming you, Yun Zhen. In fact, I\'m grateful for your help. You have done enough for me and I think it\'s time for you to do the same for yourself."
Tang Moyu gave him a smile, enough for Yun Zhen to be stunned for a moment. The empress had never looked at him like this. This was the first time she had smiled at him warmly.
"Now, if you will excuse me. I still need to deal with those old farts who keep on interfering with my life," was Tang Moyu\'s parting words before leaving Yun Zhen in the sitting room to find her grandfather.
It didn\'t take long for the empress to see whom she was looking for, as Elder Tang had been walking around inside his study, wondering if Tang Moyu would even consider a marriage arrangement with Yun Zhen.
"So excited to sell your granddaughter at the first sign of trouble, huh?" Tang Moyu crossed her arms over her c.h.e.s.t and leaned against the doorframe. Her tone and her eyes were mocking the old man who tried to set her up with Yun Zhen.
"Don\'t say that, Moyu." Elder Tang laughed awkwardly and took a seat. "It\'s just that I\'m worried about you. Yun Zhen came from a decent family. One of the best in Shenzhen. Aren\'t you turning thirty in two weeks? Although it\'s a shame that you\'ve given birth to…" He paused as Elder Tang noticed how her eyes dangerously narrowed on him. "... your children."
If Tang Moyu heard him call her little buns bastards, she would make sure to send the whole Tang family to hell herself. No one can insult her children in her presence. Not ever!
"Yun Zhen is also willing to take responsibility for your children…"
What the actual… f.u.c.k? Did she hear this old fart right?
The empress caught herself and calmed down. It seemed like Li Meili\'s way of words was affecting her too.
She wasn\'t some kind of poor Cinderella who needed a man to save her. Tang Moyu would rather unsheath the swords herself if she needed to.
Why? Tang Moyu couldn\'t understand. Why do some women bet their lives and happiness on a man?
Not every woman was born to be a princess, waiting for someone to save her from the depths of despair. Prince Charming and knights in shining armors are overrated. They\'ve only saved those damsels in distress out of pride and honor, not because they loved them.
"And you\'ve already discussed this with him without consulting me? What do you take me for, grandpa? Am I really that easy to discard once you deem me unworthy? I\'ve tried to be a filial granddaughter to you and do as you wish but this…" Tang Moyu waved her hand to emphasize everything around them, "... is ridiculous!"
In fact, in Tang Moyu\'s mind, this old man was worse than Zhang Wuying. He had never stopped the woman from abusing her mentally and emotionally when she was younger. While Tang Lixue had been absent most of her life, it was a different matter for Elder Tang, who had witnessed everything.
The worst feeling a child could feel while being abused was to see another person who could put a stop to it but wouldn\'t, for whatever twisted reasons they had.
"As for me getting married, please don\'t bother anymore. This granddaughter of yours has just gotten married, so technically my father\'s shares, as well as this estate, is mine now." Her eyes were cold. It was about time to let the Tang family taste the first dose of their own medicine.
"Please tell my mother that everyone needs to evacuate this estate before the month ends. I want to do some renovations on it while deciding what I should do with it." She nonchalantly said, not giving the old man a chance to question her.
Five years ago, they drove her out of this property, leaving her homeless. Now it was their turn.
