Chapter 644 - I Don\'t Deserve You (3)

She couldn\'t take this silent treatment coming from him anymore. She swore that if he continued to act like this until her last day at Yun Group, Su Jingyi would beat the hell out of him. This was so out of his character, which was always decisive. He usually knew how to deal with things thrown his way.

It was only then Yun Zhen turned to look at her in surprise as if he was only noticing her presence right then. He blinked twice before he realized that she was waiting for his answer, his reason.

"It\'s not like that, Su Jingyi. Of course, I don\'t want you to leave." He said once he recovered from his shock. The look of surprise and desperation swirling in his eyes immediately vanished.

Su Jinyi pressed her lips together and looked away. She knew that he wasn\'t okay with her decision to resign, but hearing him say those words made her feel uneasy. However, she had to remind herself repeatedly that this was for her own good, that nothing good would come if she continued to vie for his attention.

"So you couldn\'t think of any reason to keep me here except for marriage, huh?" She said, making the atmosphere more awkward than it already was. She had been wondering how he would answer her question, but given the way he acted these past weeks, she thought that Yun Zhen regretted proposing to her.

Yun Zhen lowered his eyes as his steps halted, leaving him standing behind Su Jingyi. When Su Jingyi didn\'t hear his footsteps, she turned around to face him. He looked conflicted and confused at the same time. What he was up to?

"What?" She raised a slender eyebrow at him. What made him so preoccupied that he didn\'t bother to greet her or his grandfather earlier? It was like his mind was somewhere else. She and Chairman Yun couldn\'t comprehend what he was thinking.

"I shouldn\'t have proposed to you like that. I\'m ashamed of myself. I don\'t deserve you if I cannot even make a decent marriage proposal on you." Yun Zhen turned his head, attempting to hide the slight blush on his face, though he failed as Su Jingyi had already seen it.

Yun Zhen was blushing? Su Jingyi pinched her arm in an attempt to convince herself that she was seeing things, but the pain that shot through her made told her that she couldn\'t be mistaken about what she\'d seen.

"Now what?" She narrowed her eyes on him, daring him to continue. He was the one who brought up the marriage proposal, but why was she left hanging by his answer?

\'Silly. Of course, he didn\'t mean it.\' Su Jingyi scoffed inwardly, knowing that she might be overthinking things again.

Was he trying to tell her that he didn\'t truly mean it when he asked her to marry him? Su Jingyi laughed at herself. She must have been a fool to think that there was even a tiny inkling that Yun Zhen had feelings for her. In his eyes, she was probably just a companion, never to become his lover.

Su Jingyi didn\'t want to be a rebound girl. She deserved more than that. If she didn\'t like the groom her parents had chosen for her, Su Jingyi didn\'t mind spending the rest of her life alone.

After all, no woman needed a man to define her. She would rather be free than be trapped in a bad relationship. She knew her worth as a person and trust that the right man for her would see this. It was also alright for her if Yun Zhen didn\'t feel the same for her and didn\'t want to have a romantic relationship with her. It wasn\'t because they didn\'t deserve each other, but because she knew that not everyone who wants to be together could be a match or are compatible with each other.

This time, Yun Zhen straightened his posture, buried a hand in his pocket, and smiled at her. The awkward atmosphere suddenly dissipated, allowing Su Jingyi to see that Yun Zhen had returned to his usual confident state.

"You wanna know the reason why I want to marry you? I\'m afraid you aren\'t the right person I should answer to right now." He said with a low chuckle, amused to see her annoyed with him right now.

Something about the way he smiled made Su Jinyi want to hit his head again. What did he mean by that? Her instincts were telling her something was up, but she couldn\'t pinpoint what it was.

"I\'m about to leave soon, Yun Zhen. If you don\'t tell me now, then fine." She frowned at him. "If you aren\'t serious, then forget it. I don\'t want to hear it anymore." She scoffed and turned to leave. Sometimes, it was really frustrating to talk with this blockhead. Anyway, if he didn\'t like her, then fine. It\'s not like she needed him around to stay alive.

Yun Zhen didn\'t say anything in return and only watched her leave. Ah, sooner or later, Su Jingyi wouldn\'t have a choice but to hear the reasons whether she liked it or not. He wasn\'t letting her go that easily.
