Chapter 354 CH 339: JABBERWOCKY (2)
The sky trembled and the ground rumbled alongside.
It was as if a literal earthquake was on the verge of destroying everything in its path while in the sky above, a tempest was starting to churn and manifest along with the advent of the ominous entity. The clouds became dark and numerous flashes of lightning filled the skies as far as the eyes could see.
\'...\'
Adam stood up with difficulty and watched in stunned awe as something that was akin to the destruction of the world was taking place right before his eyes.
Finally— he saw the appearance of that ominous entity.
A gigantic shadow that covered even the light of the ominous red moon that hung above the skies like a clot of blood
A majestic beast could be seen flying proudly high above in the sky while showing its absolute dominance.
It was— a dragon.
A pressure like Adam had never felt before was pressing down on him right now as if forcing him to bow in respect in front of that absolute being.
Adam gritted his teeth, refusing to comply, and fought back against the pressure that was making him do such a humiliating act.
He didn\'t have some lofty ideal or prideful thoughts as someone should never bow before anything.
In fact, he knew that the smartest thing to do now was to act as calmly as possible.
But Adam had a feeling that, if he gave up right here, right now— then he would always find more excuses to give up later on.
In a world where everyone bowed before the majestic and domineering presence, the action of Adam not bowing before it was no different from shining a bright light inside of a pitch dark room.
The dragon that was about to fly away from the vicinity stopped abruptly and Adam could feel his gaze locking on him.
A bitter smile formed on Adam\'s face as the futuristic armor he had summoned before covered his whole body.
A few moments ago he had hoped his first death here would be at the end of a mini-boss at the very least.
It seemed like he found something far stronger than anything he could have ever hoped to face.
Even now, Adam could scarcely observe the full majesty of the beast.
Whoosh~!!
Was it a simple movement of his wings? A literal tornado seemed to have stirred at that simple movement, the trees all around him were forced to bend and some even broke, unable to face the strength of the fierce wind.
Adam filled his body with energy and wished to make himself as \'light\' as possible to secure himself firmly on the ground.
When the beast finally landed on the ground, the zone had been completely cleared out of any trees and animals that could have existed there, leaving only the stumps as proof that large trees once existed in this place.
The dragon in front of him was beautiful and awe-inspiring.
Standing nearly fifty meters in height, three large serpentine heads and a body so long taht he could not accurately determine the length could be seen before him.
\'Hah…\'
Adam understood at that moment.
There was no way he could win against this monster.
This was not a fight between David and Goliath but that of an ant facing a mammoth.
There was not even hope for a miracle.
There was no hope at all.
He would, without a shadow of a doubt, die in this place.
But— was he scared?
\'Hahaha…\'
He could feel his body tremble and shiver but that did not occur due to the fear he felt.
"You… I will hunt you down one day."
The feeling of such beauty and majesty? Something that would instill fear and reverence in the heart of anyone who dared to witness it…
But for Adam, all he could feel was a deep excitement that came from the deepest part of his soul.
He wanted to kill it.
To destroy it completely.
To trample on it, tear it apart, erase all of its majesty, and finally take it as a trophy.
A poem appeared in his mind.
One that the white Rabbit had told him before vanishing down that rabbit hole.
Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!
"You must be the Jabberwock she spoke of."
Adam muttered, more to himself than anyone else.
He could feel the Jabberwock gazing down at him as if wondering why such a tiny ant dared to rebel against it.
A mad grin formed on his face as Adam looked up before shouting at the top of his lungs.
"Come at me you oversized lizard! Hahaha…"
The light in the eyes of the dragon became cold, filled with anger and wrath. It seemed like it could perfectly hear and understand Adam.
But Adam did not care.
Since he was going to die anyway.
Adam started to run toward the majestic dragon, like a moth running toward the flame.
"Remember this you giant lizard, remember my name!"
Three cards appeared in Adam\'s hand.
The Sun, The Star, and Death.
Blazing Inferno covered his body, the heat rose and he looked like a star that was burning its own life.
Since he was going to fight that thing again, he wanted to gather as much intel about it as was possible for him at the current moment.
Light gathered in his eyes, his pupils taking the form of ominous dark stars as he observed the body of the dragon.
\'Tch!\'
As he anticipated, even in the monochromatic world, the red lines on the body of the three-headed dragon were so small that he could barely see them.
But— they still existed!
This could only mean that he could kill it! Even if not now, even if it was after dozens of tries… He was still able to kill that being…
"Let\'s go!"
ROOAAR~!!
Adam could feel his temple burst at the roar that was infused with the monster\'s Dream Force but he ignored the feeling of pain.
\'My sense of balance has been destroyed.\'
He filled this thought with Dream Force and was able to stabilize himself.
The pain was nothing to him…
Whoosh~!!
Bang~!!!
The ground trembled as the dragon swatted him with his tail but Adam had already avoided it by jumping high in the sky, using all his strength, he was able to reach far higher than even the fifty-meter long dragon and was now able to look down on the monster.
He knew that this was a mistake as soon as he saw the Jabberwock open one of its mow wide.
Bzzz~!!!!
A flash of lightning soon greeted him. So fast that he nearly missed it. But he was able to narrowly avoid it while sacrificing his left arm.
\'Ugh!\'
Blood did not even flow as that entire part of his body was charred to black ash.
\'One of its head use lightning. Most likely each of them uses a different element.\'
Even though his mind was flashing because of the pain, he was able to keep calm and make his deductions.
This pain was nothing compared to the poison of Medusa.
Letting gravity do its work, Adam started to fall in the direction of the head that was in the middle.
He could see the monster open its massive maw wide as if ready to gulp him down in one bite.
\'Hehe. Retard.\'
"Did your mother never tell you? Don\'t eat everything you find."
The dragon seemed to realize that something fishy was going on and instantly closed its maw but it was already too late for it to complete that action. The moment Adam approached the head of the Dragon, he finally let go of all the energy he had been steadily building up in his body.
The card of Death, Star, and Sun shone alongside his body. He could see cracks appearing all around his skin as if it was about to burst.
Uncaring of everything… Adam gave his all. All his Dream Force, all his mental energy, all his lifeforce. This was a suicide attack without the slightest hint of doubt.
For others that was…
In this universe, one of the greatest explosions that could ever exist was without a doubt the death of a star.
This explosion was called—
—Super Nova!
BOOM~!!!
ROOARR~!!!
The last thing Adam heard— was the mournful cry of the dragon…
\'Heh… This is just the start.\'
He would be back. And he
This was his last thought as his mind fell into darkness.
(AN: The arc is slowly coming to an end. I think only two or so more chapters will end. This was just a sneak peek of Dreamscape. I hope you liked the Arc.)
