Chapter 117: Reason (5)

Chapter 117: Reason (5)

The group landed on the ground and then smiled when they saw Luke almost falling down. However, before that could happen, the elf on his shoulder kissed him and then assumed her real form. After touching his shoulders, a light enveloped his body, and the wounds disappeared instantly. Luke woke up, completely surprised, but then she realized what had happened…

“Now you have done it…” Luke said and then charged toward the enemies in front of him.

Luke used Stinger and then destroyed the head of one of the enemies, and his body was sent flying toward the building on fire. The body was crushed after hitting the walls due to the sheer power of Stinger. Luke had used its full power, after all.

Luke turned around to attack the others, but they used all their might to move in different directions. However, showing their backs had been a mistake… Luke used Sonic Blade and instantly beheaded three others.

While ignoring the messages of the system, Luke began to run toward the enemies… some would escape temporarily, but it couldn’t be helped. While ignoring the fact that his SP was quickly decreasing, Luke used Dash at level max and caught up with two other targets. When they saw Luke’s footsteps approaching, they showed an expression of absolute despair. Still, Luke approached and swung his sword toward their heads without even blinking. With two swift strikes, two others had fallen.

“Where are the others?” Luke asked and then called for Artiuno. “Where is Sheila as well?”

“… Southwest of here,” Rina replied. “Sheila is heading in the opposite direction.”

“Assholes… trying to gain time,” Luke said and then clicked his tongue in annoyance.

Luke jumped on Artiuno’s back when she approached and gave it the order to fly high in the sky and head to whatever the hell Sheila was. Most likely, she was the one who hit him with Lightning. That spell made his HP drop to five percent… if he hadn’t increased his RES on the previous day to resist the cold… he would be dead by now. Mercy wasn’t something he would grant her.

Thanks to the fact that he was flying high in the sky, Sheila didn’t hear Artiuno approaching. While she was running toward the northern exit of the city with all her might, she looked behind her several times, hoping not to find Luke… it seemed that she had forgotten about Artiuno.

To make sure that she wouldn’t notice his approach, Luke jumped from Artiuno’s back and maneuvered in the air to approach her while he was falling. Despite that, she still felt the danger for her life and then turned around and saw him. She tried to equip her bow, but she didn’t have time.

“Wait!” Sheila said.

“Die, bitch.” Luke said and then used Stinger in the air to approach.

The attack made Luke’s sword head in a straight line toward Sheila’s heart. She grunted a little when her body was slammed against the ground, but only for a moment. She died almost instantly…

“Where are the others?” Luke asked.

“They are out of my range… if you head toward the same direction, I might find them if they continued to follow the same route,” Rina replied.

“Shit… you saved me, Rina, thank you,” Luke said.

“Don’t mention it… I would die as well if I hadn’t helped, after all,” Rina said and then looked away.

“Ah… are you fine, Shalia?” Luke asked. “You also suffered damage, right?”

“No worries, she healed us at the same time…” Shalia replied. “Despite her naive nature, she sure has some powerful healing spells.”

In any case, the messages of the system were blocking Luke’s field of vision, so he had to solve that. Unfortunately, four of the enemies granted him skills that he already had. Fortunately, that wasn’t a problem.

Luke got the compensation that he wanted, but the skills of the last three were even more shocking. They were Lightning, Magic Link, and Lurk. Lurk worked, like Rina said. At the cost of one hundred mana points, the user becomes undetectable as long as he doesn’t move. Magic Link was a weird skill… it made the mana pools of some people being connected. It was probably why Sheila managed to use Lightning… even though it costs two hundred points of mana to operate at level one.

“Her lightning was at level three… so I survived an attack that more than two times the mana that I can use…” Luke muttered. “That was painful, but now I have one heck of a skill under my command.”

Unlike the other skills, the distance between the target and Luke had to be fifty meters at level one. So, that one granted Luke the chance to stop any monster instantly. However, against faster enemies, fifty meters is nothing… and against those, Luke Will need a higher level in the skill, and the cost will increase accordingly.

While Luke was thinking about that, he saw dozens of Koriri approaching from the sky. They didn’t look that vicious, so it seemed that they were aware of the danger. Despite that…

Luke used Lightning and completely fried one of the monsters alive, but the spell stopped after hitting one. It didn’t kill those flying below it even though they were pretty close…
