Chapter 247 - Covering The Bases (3)
"You should have asked Cresta more about this," Rina said.
"She wasn\'t exactly a chatterbox and even I have some scintilla of pride," Luke said. "If someone clearly wants to keep their distance from me, then I will keep the distance as well. It would be better if we don\'t try to get along with them, if we were to meet them again."
"Rather than that, you are nagging Luke a bit too much lately," Shalia said.
"I am just trying to help prevent making the same mistakes," Rina said.
In any case, after doing some math, Luke realized that even if he uses all the current mana of the crystal, he will recover that later without doing anything in less than two days… as long as he keeps summoning and sacrificing the monsters. He thought that it was a cheating method. Still, without doing something like that thousands of times, he probably won\'t find other magic planets and never will be able to Teleport his mobile fortress toward them.
Nevertheless, once they returned to the elves\' world after doing that, they noticed that Richter had returned, and while he seemed a bit tired, he was fine. At least his armor wasn\'t dirty with blood, and there weren\'t any signs of wounds in his body.
"Tell Luke why you dumbass took so long," Rachel said.
"... The mobile fortresses are in outer space just as you had predicted since keeping their mana shields would drain their mana continuously," Richter said. "Still, they can keep moving around in order not to give the other overlords much time to plan an attack. I also think that there is also some other sort of reason that they keep changing locations so much."
"But you have no idea what that reason is," Luke said.
"Yep," Richter replied. "However, now and then they fight each other and from what I saw, they are all enemies."
"So, they are fighting over something?" Luke asked while frowning. "It doesn\'t seem to be for any special resources since Cresta group left… is there anything special in the central part of the continent aside from numerous crystals and monsters?"
"Not that I am aware of," Rina replied.
"That is a very reliable answer," Shalia said sarcastically.
While Rina was dealing with Shalia trying to annoy her, Luke began to wonder as to why those overlords were there. They clearly came from a faraway planet, and that probably cost tons of mana, so it would be weird if they just came to level up their summoned monsters. Something smells fishy…
"I suppose we can\'t approach them with an large army… perhaps even with only the one hundred archers will be discovered," Luke rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Can\'t we just use your mobile fortress back on earth and transport everyone?" Richter asked.
"I doubt that the Search function can find this planet at its current level… not to mention, the Search and Teleportation funcion need to be on the same level to make it work," Luke replied.
Making three thousand elves join his camp wasn\'t a bad idea. Still, ultimately, Luke wanted to help Rina, and she wanted peace for her people. They will be busy enough dealing with the crystals that will eventually spawn in their world with their current numbers.
"So, it is up to a small group to get the first mobile fortress," Celia said. "Even if that works, it will put the other overlords in a cautious state. We will need to act fast and deal with all of them in a single and swift sweep."
Celia had a point. That was probably the best option. Even if they are enemies now, they might change their minds if they find a common enemy. It was too risky to take their time. Luke around his friends and checked their statuses… they were all above level 180, so they weren\'t slacking off. Even their skills were at a quite high level as well… they could take down an army or two if Luke deals with the overlord.
"Let\'s rest for a few days, after that, we will depart to deal with one of the overlords and take their flying fortress," Luke declared.
Only Richter needed to rest, but some preparations also needed to be made. Luke went to his home to inform his parents of their next moves, and since Danielle begged him to go, he would bring with them as well. Strangely, his parents didn\'t oppose that idea. They either thought an opponent that couldn\'t destroy a big city in a single night wasn\'t much dangerous, or they assumed that Luke wouldn\'t put her in that much danger. Nevertheless, he also gathered the loot that the skeletons obtained in the last week and solved everything that wouldn\'t help his group. Strangely enough, he even found a skill book there… one pretty useful at that.
Stunning Blow
An attack that causes extra damage on the opponent, and when the damage is above ten percent of the target\'s HP, it will sting them for one second.
Cost: 10 SP per level.
"Not bad, not bad at all," Luke said.
"If you use some sort of fighting gauntlets, I would bet this skill would really come in handy," Rina said. "You would have more chances of dealing critical hits."
"Yeah, but I wouldn\'t be able to hold my main weapon with that equipped and the enemy would keep their guard up against that type of attack," Luke said.
Luke assumed that such skill would work better with fists and kicks. Combining it with Flying Kick probably was the best option. However, it was hard to imagine that such a combo would deal ten percent of the total HP of the most powerful foes, so it was another combo perfect against small fries.. Nevertheless, it was a weapon that could be used in other ways, probably and with some luck, it could become even more useful and with constant use as well since the power would increase.
