Chapter 255 - Aerial Battle (3)
It took only a few seconds for his friends to reach the area. Even though those two flew for a while when they were fighting, they didn\'t move that much. In the end, they saw the moment where Luke got up and then threw the wing of the overlord to the side and then immediately kicked him in the stomach when he tried to get up. Even though the enemy was already bleeding to death while a fountain of blood was gushing from the wound on its back. Luke still grabbed the other wing and then put his legs on the enemy\'s back to have an easier time pulling it…
His friends watched him with terrified expressions while they saw Luke pulling the other wing very slowly… the screams of the overlords echoed through the area for a couple of minutes, and then it ended with a rain of blood when Luke pulled the other wing from its back.

When Luke saw those notifications, his mind began to clear a little. He didn\'t regret what he did to the asshole that almost killed him and Shalia, but then he realized that he had gone too far when he saw the worried expressions on his friends\' faces. He had forgotten that Danielle was there, and while Rina tried to cover her and Sylah\'s eyes, it didn\'t seem like it had been enough… they could tell what had happened.
"Oh, well… what is done is done," Luke said and then began to manipulate the water in the air to clean himself.
"Are you alright now?" Rina asked while healing him and Shalia.
"Yeah, we are fine," Luke replied. "It seemed that you guys finished things here already."
"Sorry for not being able to help while you were up there," Rina replied.
"It couldn\'t have been helped… we also failed to realize that we could have fought better If we used some ice platforms," Luke said and then sighed and then used Tornado for a moment to dry his body. "That asshole sure caused us a lot of problems."
Fighting in such a situation made Luke realize that his evasive skills were severely lacking. He needed more to prevent that kind of problem… Unfortunately, the Fly skill wasn\'t available yet. Even though he had more than eight thousand gold coins… that was kind of insane. While he couldn\'t learn Fly, he could learn Checkpoint, and that would cost him 512.000 gold coins.
"At least this will prevent me from fighting in such an unfavorable position again," Luke said and then turned around to check the battlefield behind him. "What are you guys waiting for? Gather the loot. We need to move out as soon as possible."
Although he had recovered his reason, his friends still were wary of him. While that couldn\'t be helped, it wasn\'t enough reason for Luke to change his behavior, ignoring the situation. They needed to move before the other overlords came to realize what was going on.
To help with the gathering of the loot, Luke used his skeletons after he created them. Although he didn\'t have the chance to make many, he raised two hundred before leaving. After that, Luke used his and everyone\'s mana to return to the elves\' hideout as fast as possible. Then he asked all of them to get on as fast as possible.
"This fortress is too big. We can\'t hide it in this region," Luke said. "So, we will have to move for the time being."
"Where are we going exactly?" Rina asked.
Luke didn\'t reply, but he pointed to his Pilaswine, and Rina understood the message. They could hide even that massive fortress in the northern lands. It would become a massive snow mountain, but no one would notice it.
"Sorry, did I scare you?" Luke asked while he patted the silent Danielle.
"... Not one bit," Danielle replied after a few minutes of silence. "Why did you get so angry anyway?"
"He almost killed Shalia and me, so I went a little berserk," Luke replied. "Friends are something that we have in high demand these days, so we can\'t afford to lose a single one."
Danielle stopped feeling uneasy because she felt the same way. While she wasn\'t much close to that group as she was close to Luke\'s parents, she didn\'t want to see them dying either. Besides, she was a simple-minded kid. As long as there was a good reason for it, she thought that kind of behavior could be excused. Realizing that, Luke made a mental note to keep an eye on Danielle. Things weren\'t as simple as that.
Although they have won two battles and accomplished their mission, the group didn\'t feel much happy about it. Luke acted most of the time calm, but he had quite the dark side, and the scene where he ripped off the wings of the enemy shocked them.
"What will be our next steps?" Shalia asked.
"Let\'s rest for two days before looking for the other overlords," Luke replied. "They will probably find the remains of the battlefield and of the destroyed fortress. Since they will find the corpses of two armies, they will assume another overlord did that. Their guard probably won\'t be raised against us. So, we will use that chance to take them one after a time."
"I wonder if things will be that simple…" Rina said. "I have a feeling that things will only get complicated from now on."
Usually, Shalia would complain or say something sarcastic, but unfortunately, she had the same feeling. Weirdly enough, even Luke was imagining that things were going to become complicated in one way or the other.. He couldn\'t quite pinpoint how, but that was what his instincts were telling him… He had to do even more preparations to avoid any unpleasant surprises, but without having any idea what to expect, that was hard.
