Chapter 2571: Domino Effect Damage

Chapter 2571: Domino Effect Damage

And yet, these people were still not content with what they already had. The interstellar space was no longer big enough for them. They wanted to break through the plane barrier to reach and invade other planes.

F*ck! If they did break the plane barrier, and the plane could not repair the damage on its own, the entire plane would be in trouble.

Ning Shu stared wide-eyed at Alviss and his master, who were still engrossed in their conversation.

What they wanted to do wouldn’t just inflict damage on one plane. It’d also harm the planes nearby, and the ones next to those.

Akin to pushing a single domino and knocking down the entire structure, damage to one plane would cause a chain reaction and a series of collapses down the line.

Each plane nurtured all that existed in it. Human beings, who were the creatures sitting at the very top of the food chain, were blessed with the plane’s fortune and love. However, they were also the ones who recklessly destroyed the planes that nurtured them.

Human beings had unintentionally caused, throughout their existence, the erosion of these planes through their desires, grievances, and hatred. Now, they wanted to directly and intentionally rupture these planes.

They wanted to use their newly discovered power to break through the protective barrier of their plane.

Ning Shu interjected, “But what happens after it’s broken?”

Alviss looked at Ning Shu in surprise. She usually never joined in on his and Jeffrey’s conversations.

Ning Shu spread her hands and asked. “Have you ever thought about what happens if the barrier breaks? What if the entire plane shatters?”

This plane was vast and had many planets in it. If its plane barrier was broken, all the planets within it would be left unprotected. It would be game over for everyone.

Who even knew how many living creatures would be killed if this plane’s barrier was broken?

Even if the plane didn’t shatter all at once, cracks would appear and grow, and it’d shatter with time.

“That won’t happen,” Jeffrey said.

Ning Shu rolled her eyes. “Oh, so if you say that it won’t happen, then it won’t? Do you think that the barrier exists just because? Do you think it doesn’t serve any purpose? I bet you think that it’d be nice if we didn’t have any barriers at all. Without it, we can just hop to another plane and visit each other, right?”

“Sister, don’t talk to Mr. Jeffrey like that,” Alviss said.

Ning Shu shrugged her shoulders. “I’m just saying. You guys can carry on with your discussion.”

Ning Shu turned around and went out. Little Grass followed Ning Shu and asked, “Are you angry?”

“Little Grass, the main reason why I’ve worked this hard is to survive. On top of that, my work is for the sake of eliminating resentment and fixing planes.

“The purpose of my existence now is to patch up broken planes, and, sometimes, catch the parasites and blood-sucking worms that have sunk their mouths to the plane.”

Little Grass carefully listened to her and said, “So what they want to do really bothers you.”

“They are hoisting themselves by their own petard. Now that they have some abilities, they want to take even more. They want to bite off more than they can chew and will ultimately harm others and themselves,” Ning Shu said.

Ning Shu wondered about it. What if, after she built her plane, the technology in it developed to the point of threatening her plane’s stability?

She would definitely take action to eliminate the threat. Ning Shu would stomp out anything that would threaten her plane.

This experience had given Ning Shu a new thought about the plane that she wanted to build.

In particular, about how it should be maintained.

“So life is actually this hard for you,” Little Grass said to Ning Shu.

“It’s not like that. It’s just like you have to cultivate hard to become strong, I do these things to strengthen myself,” Ning Shu said.

She wanted to possess a formidable strength that could trump all otherworldly forces.

A staunch conviction in herself that was eternally resolute.

A healthy body that was invulnerable to all poisons.

Little Grass grabbed Ning Shu’s hand and held it. “Things will get better one day.”

Little Grass was barefoot, and the bells on her ankles were tinkling crisply.

Ning Shu looked at Little Grass. “You’re not angry anymore?”

Little Grass rolled her eyes and shook off Ning Shu’s hand. “I’m still angry.”

Little Grass stepped ahead and walked in front of Ning Shu. Each time her porcelain white feet stepped on the ground, the bells on her ankles jingled and made a crisp sound.

Ning Shu walked behind Little Grass with her hands behind her back, looking at the kid as she did. She was such an adorable child.
