MMORPG: Divine Mech Hunter

Chapter 85 - 85: Joining

Lor’themar Theron became the Regent after the Prince embarked on his expedition to the Outland, rendering him the top leader among the High Elves.

He once served as the deputy to Sylvanas, commanding the ranger force as a senior general. After Sylvanas’ death, his reputation soared within the military.

Even with the presence of the Prince, he is now the second most influential individual in the kingdom.

Hence, it was a surprise for Li Yao to see Lor’themar amongst the emissaries, which subsequently led to his realization.

It seemed like the Prince was about to lead a major expedition to the Outland, leaving the kingdom incredibly vulnerable. The High Elves might have joined the Dark Camp, but due to their arrogant nature, other races are hesitant to interact with them.

Moreover, it would be virtually impossible to respond swiftly to any incident occurring on a distant continent. The only guarantee of the High Elves’ safety lies with the forsaken Undead. As the queen was once a High Elf and a top military commander, seeking her help would be understandable and not shameful.

The High Elves are such an arrogant and stubborn race, filled with a sense of superiority deep in their bones since ancient times. Naturally, they have cause for such arrogance.

“I am not a scout, but please grant me the opportunity to speak a few words, General. I promise not to disappoint.” Li Yao took a deep breath, feeling somewhat shaky. Any single guard here could kill him instantly. If Lor’themar was not satisfied, even his status as a High Elf would not be spared.

“I find your position too low to be trustworthy. However, given your ownership of a powerful Dragon Eagle and that you are one of us, I will give you a chance. Remember, if I am not satisfied with what you say, you should aware of consequences.” Lor’themar hesitated before finally speaking.

It was only then that Li Yao let out a sigh of relief, cleared his throat lightly, and asked, “Honorable General, might you be seeking an audience with General Windrunner?”

“That is none of your business. What you should be doing is improving your strength.” Lor’themar continued, “That’s one sentence.”

“I can ensure you meet the General.” Li Yao uttered his second sentence.

Lor’themar’s monocular gaze pierced into Li Yao, warning sternly, “You’d best not be joking.”

“I assure you, there is a hundred percent chance of meeting the General.” Li Yao replied with a determined tone, meeting Lor’themar’s gaze unflinchingly.

Retreating in fear would only make the situation worse.

“You have one more sentence left,” Lor’themar was stern in tone, but the eagerness in his voice was clear to be discerned.

Even he had been rejected. Knowing that he was her former deputy, she now refuses to see even him.

He was asked to pass on the message that she is no longer part of the High Elves and had forgotten the past. She is now merely the Queen of the Forsaken and would not concern herself with the internal affairs of the High Elves.

“Because I have this.” Li Yao brandished a necklace in front of Lor’themar for a moment, then promptly stowed it in his bag.

“How do you possess this?” Lor’themar looked at him incredulously, very familiar with that necklace.

Sylvanas often held that necklace, treasuring it as the most precious thing and always kept it close.

He also knew what this necklace represented. It was a gift from her sister Aurelia, and after losing contact with Aurelia during her expedition to the Outland, Sylvanas cherished it even more.

Never in a million years would he expect the necklace to appear in the hands of this lowly individual, not even a first-order one at that.

“It seems that the General recognizes this necklace, which makes things easier.” Li Yao laughed.

“State your demand. Give me the necklace?” Lor’themar’s voice was filled with eagerness.

“There’s no way I’m giving you the necklace.” Li Yao quickly shook his head. “Are you fooling me?” A flicker of anger flashed in Lor’themar’s eves. “State your demand.”

“My request is simple, I want to see General Windrunner myself.”

“Are you sure about this?” Lor’themar sized up Li Yao skeptically.

“General Windrunner has always been my idol. I was hoping to have the chance to meet her later. But I heard in Brill that the kingdom’s envoy had been rejected by the General, so I wanted to lend a hand. Mostly, I don’t want the envoy to deprive me of my right to meet General Windrunner. Otherwise, killing me wouldn’t help.” Li Yao’s voice filled with fanaticism.

“Alright, I agree.” Lor’themar found his faith in Sylvanas more believable, as there was no shortage of such fanatics in the kingdom.

“Thank you, General.” Li Yao broke into a smile.

“Turn back, return to Undercity.” Lor’themar’s smile too grew bright, he couldn’t not be glad for this unexpected turn of events.

His purpose was simple, to see his former superior. Taking one extra person in was a small issue.

Li Yao joined the High Elf delegation, who even assigned him an official suit. As the saying goes, “Clothes make the man.” Donning the bright red formal attire, Li Yao was visibly more handsome.

The suit acted as a costume, and he had a choice to display either his equipment or his costume. This was quite convenient. However, showing up in a suit affected combat, which required a switch during battles.

The pace of the embassy group had significantly slowed down, but they still pushed the pace, traveled for over a day, and not until the afternoon of the next day did Li Yao catch distant sight of the dilapidated ruins of Lordaeron’s castle.

From afar, one could still see the lofty city walls, but now they appeared extremely desolate and ruined. Undercity was situated beneath the ruins, an underground city expanded from the sewer system.

In front of the Undercity’s underground passage, a bunch of undead players were being driven out by the guards.

“Why won’t they let us into the city?”

“Exactly, we’ve come from so far away, and they won’t even let us in?”

“Dammit, what kind of **** game is this? Restricting players from entering cities? ****! We chose the Undead and we can’t even enter the Undead Capital. What the hell!”

“Boss, seems like we can’t get in.” The dejected scout said, “Just our luck. The vice president got killed, we are blocked from entering the capital. This is a real blow.”

The guild leader of Nine Springs remained silent, his mood was not any better.

The players were all worked up. In previous games, there were areas that were simply not open to them. But this game was different. They’d discovered the main city on the low-level map and it was just not open to them. Naturally, they were angered, having wasted time that could’ve been used for leveling up, while they couldn’t even get through the door.

“Stop making a racket! Clear the way. The High Elf Kingdom’s embassy group is coming. One more disturbance and you’ll be sent grave-bound.” An annoyed Undead guard shouted.

“Even this embassy group, they just left yesterday, and now they’re returning again today. They’re giving us a hard time.” Another guard grumbled.

“Stop talking nonsense, quickly separate them. We don’t want any trouble.” The guard captain spoke impatiently.

The guards sent a few people to stop the players. The players, out of curiosity, didn’t leave and instead stood aside to watch.

After a good while, just when some players were growing impatient, the slow-moving convoy of the embassy group finally arrived.

The players curiously watched, even many people started recording videos. This was a novelty, an NPC event, public events were allowed to be filmed.

The scout also started his video camera, suddenly he saw a Fire Bird landing in one area of the convoy, he widened his eyes and said, “Boss, look.”

Nine Springs turned his gaze over, narrowed his eyes and said coldly, “Prairie Fire, why is he here?”

He watched the video of Prairie Fire killing their guild members many times, especially the Fire Bird, it was so unique.

“Ma*****! Why were we stopped and this ******* gets welcomed in by the guards and officials?”

Seeing the hate in the scout’s eyes, he shouted, “That guy with the Fire Bird is just like us! Why can he go in while we can’t?”

The players suddenly understood that the guy with the Fire Bird was also a player. Immediately, they were riled up and began to make a fuss. Until now, the players had not realized their status in the game was not high.

“You’re not very strong, but it seems like you’ve made quite a few enemies.” Lor’themar joked, “With just one word from me, I could swiftly deal with them for you.”

Li Yao took a glance and saw the logo for Nine Springs Guild, then turned his head and said, “It’s nothing but a minor nuisance, hardly worth disturbing the General. ”

Reborn in this world, Li Yao knew well that taking advantage of NPCs was not that easy, especially powerful NPCs.

Of course, the most important thing was that Nine Springs Guild was really not worth owing Lor’themar a favour, he completely disregarded them.

“Leave Undercity immediately, anyone irrelevant lingering a minute later will be killed without mercy.” The cold light flitted in the captain’s eyes.

The sound of clattering…

All the Undead guards drew their weapons, and intense magic fluctuations surged around some of the Mages.

The players instantly quieted down, leaving Undercity with a sense of grievance.

“Boss, should we post the video?” the Scout asked.

Nine Springs shook his head and said, “That man, is very troublesome. Bridge of Naihe was careless. We cannot be careless. Moreover, there will be people who will post this to get an official explanation; we don’t need to get involved. Bridge of Naihe is good in every other aspect, just not cautious enough. This setback should serve as a lesson.”

“Boss is wise,” the scout said, sincerely convinced.

“Wise or not, what’s the purpose of running our guild? To live the high life. Let Prairie Fire enjoy his moment of triumph, so what? The game has just started, there’s still plenty of chances for revenge, why the rush?” Nine Springs slowly moved towards the distance, saying lightly, “Tell the others, cancel the plan to enter the city. Put leveling up at the top of the priority list. We still have a chance.”

“Alright, I’ll inform the others.” The scout cast one last resentful glance at the retreating figure of the embassy group before leaving.

Li Yao also finally arrived at Undercity with the embassy group. The queen is in the depth of the city, the Dark Ranger is within reach…
