MMORPG: Divine Mech Hunter

Chapter 114 - 114 Tactics

His strategic maneuver of luring more than ten thousand Murlocs to the outpost, deep behind enemy lines, along with his blade-edge dance and near-assassin creed performances, had won over the audience’s hearts.

No one doubted his skills, but the problem was, this was a level thirty boss, and everyone had witnessed its formidable power.

Let alone defeating it, even kiting it would be impossible.

The three hunters weren’t nobodies, especially the Dark Grape, who were indeed top-notch archers, but they still ended up broken and defeated.

The spectators at this stage were quite rational and didn’t mock their lack of skill. It can be said that their defeat wasn’t due to lack of skill, but rather the vast gap in their movement speed.

Thus, after a rational analysis, they weren’t very optimistic about Li Yao. “I’m afraid even he doesn’t know the extent of this boss’s craziness. Let’s see how he manages.” King of Hunters sighed in amazement.

“Idiot!” Zhao Lei raised his middle finger in response.

“Dammit, I’ve got you marked now. You better watch your back.” The King of Hunters was almost at his wit’s end. He was a pro, not some peasant to insult casually.

“Bring it on if you dare.” Zhao Lei gave him a contemptuous look.

“Damn.”

Death’s Wing held back the King of Hunters, who was about to explode with rage, saying, “Calm down.”

“Coward.” Zhao Lei laughed coldly. He didn’t care how many viewers there were. Dignity? In Zhao Lei’s dictionary, there was only disdain and disrespect.

However, Li Yao was unfazed by all of this. He activated his Swift Scroll and stopped in his tracks approximately a hundred yards from the boss. A heavy crossbow suddenly appeared in his hands. Without even aiming, Li Yao pulled the trigger straight away.

Whoosh…

A steel arrow hit the boss’s skull causing Grugh’s son to let out a roar. He leaped forward covering forty yards in distance.

Li Yao immediately swapped his crossbow for a fire gun and turned to run. After running a distance, he suddenly spun around, shooting a backwards glance, but his body continued to dart forward at a rapid pace.

The boss’s speed was also incredibly fast, reducing the gap with each passing moment. Whenever the distance between them became critical, Li Yao would use Shadow Roll or a backwards jump to widen the gap.

Looking at Li Yao’s speed, the spectators’ heightened anticipation started to fade, as Li Yao was using the same tactics as the previous trio.

“And here I thought his skills were something extraordinary. In the end, he’s just like us.” The King of Hunters grumbled again.

Dark Grape shook his head, saying, “He handles the finer details better than us. Didn’t you guys notice? Regardless of how boss charges, his bullets always hit the boss in the same spot. Also, his jump shots are smoother. He handles the reload time, jump time, turning, and all minor details excellent, akin to moving clouds and flowing water.”

It’s just as the saying goes, professionals intrigue with understanding, while laymen merely entertain with spectacle. To an ordinary spectator, these moves were very smooth, without the slightest hitch, which was pleasing to watch compared to the previous three.

However, they couldn’t quite put their finger on what exactly was impressive, while Dark Grape saw through the high underlying technical flair. The more you become aware, the more you realize the difficulty of achieving what Li Yao is doing.

“I admit, I am not at that level yet. But it’s only a matter of time. However, it’s of limited help in kiting the boss. At most, it allows us to kite for a slightly longer distance.” The King of Hunters said unwilling to admit defeat.

Dark Grape slightly shook his head, falling silent. Although he was arrogant, he had confidence in his skills. It didn’t mean that he refused to acknowledge the strengths of others and learn from them. Only then can his skills improve continuously.

His goals were different than King of Hunters who devalued others’ skills to elevate his worth, thus demonstrating his greatness.

Besides, they merely collaborated, so Dark Grape was too lazy to explain. He remembered what Li Yao said when they were sparring.

“I will teach you the three basic moves.” Although he thought Li Yao was too smug, Li Yao had a valid reason for his arrogance. What seemed to him, very high-end techniques, were just basics for Li Yao. So, what would advanced techniques look like?

“He’s almost out of mana.” A peculiar aura flickered in the eyes of Death’s Scythe.

“Roughly over five thousand yards, which is impressive. He managed to kite it much far than Grape.” Oz nodded in appreciation.

“Too bad, he’s reached his limit now.” King of Hunters scoffed.

Seeing the boss approximately a hundred yards away, Li Yao suddenly halted and crouched on the ground, placing an Exploding Sheep.

The Exploding Sheep scampered into the distance as soon as it was released. In a flash, the boss closed the gap to sixty yards.

With just one more second, the boss would cast its curse.

The expressions of the gamers from the three major guilds were filled with mockery as they waited to watch Li Yao make a fool of himself. Some even started working on their lines to humiliate the so-called gaming prodigy in front of hundreds of thousands of spectators.

Although countless spectators already knew the outcome, they couldn’t help but gasp in surprise.

Just as they felt all hope was lost, Li Yao shrank down again right before their eyes, and a screech of a fire hawk echoed in the sky.

In their stupefied state, the fire hawk spun and descended.

They saw the mini version of Li Yao grab the talon of the fire hawk, giving a hard tug. After two successive Shadow Rolls, he ended up on the Hawks back.

Without pause, the fire hawk soared upwards once more.

Although it seems complex to explain, what the audience saw was Li Yao shrinking down and catching the talon of the descending fire hawk. As he was carried off, he performed two Shadow Rolls in mid-air, landing on the back of the hawk.

Boom…

The spectators, numbering in the thousands, burst out in disbelief. “Twice! It’s the second time he shrunk. What kind of artifact is this?” “I need guidance from a pro. Please, Oz, explain what’s going on here.” “Is it a tool, a potion, or special equipment?”

“Damn, so if he shrinks down, doesn’t that mean he essentially has a flying mount?”

“Impressive. Didn’t see that coming. I admit it, this is something else.”

“Truly an eye-opener, it was worth it today. It’s not just skills that caught my eyes, but the new way of playing the game. Thanks to Master Prairie Fire.”

Oz also didn’t know what kind of artifact it was. He asked Zhao Lei, “What kind of artifact is it?”

“I have no clue and even if I did, do you think I would tell you?” Zhao Lei sneered and turned away, apparently not interested in talking to Oz.

Oz, unphased, looked at the Fruit Knight and Guardian Angel. However, both of them ignored him, starting to run towards the battlefield for better observation.

Li Yao, on the back of the fire hawk, silently assessed the boss’s anger, commanding his Exploding Sheep to inch closer to the boss and detonate it.

Boom…

-3

This was the first time the boss’s defense had been breached. He staggered back two steps. The fading rage grew rapidly, his gaze still fixed on Li Yao who was flying twenty yards off the ground.

He let out another angry roar and charged onward behind Li Yao.
