Chapter 99: Cavern Trials, Potential Points Wave!

William\'s eyes lit up. This trial was the true reward!

He launched a few more giant fireballs at the scattered group of Caverns Goblins, making sure to target only the most concentrated areas.

The inflow of Potential Points was like euphoria, reminding William of why he was labeled a loot goblin by the System in the past. He rushed forward with a wide smile on his face, sniping faraway Caverns Goblins with his throwing knives and punching the ones that entered close-range.

Soon all the Caverns Goblins were dead, earning William 302 Potential Points including the Bestiary discovery.

You\'ve completed the first level in record time! You have five minutes to prepare for level 2. The voice resounded through the cavern this time without emotion.

William checked his Status.

His Mana was still near the maximum, but five minutes of rest would only restore about 6 Mana. Hopefully the next four levels weren\'t too harsh on his reserves, William only brought 20 Mana Regeneration Potions and he didn\'t want to use them so soon.

The timer ran out and William was facing Caverns Goblins once again, but there were more than twice as many this time. Mixed into the group of Goblins were a group of five buff Goblins wielding large clubs.

There are too many of them, but this is perfect!

The drastic increase in difficulty surprised William, but he wasn\'t scared. If they weren\'t in a cavern, William might have considered creating a Meteor Spell to wipe out the entire group!

He made use of the Earth Element to create a wall on either side of the cavern that funneled the Goblins and Hobgoblins into one line, then created an Array that launched high-pressure water at whatever was in the front of the line, slicing through the Goblins\' bodies.

William jumped on top of the Earth Walls and created giant fireballs to blast the backline while the Array did the rest of the work.

This strategy saved William quite a bit of Mana, only using up about 60 Mana by the time all 250 enemies were dead.

Congratulations on clearing the second level, you are the first to do it alone. You have ten minutes to prepare for level three.

William realized that the terrain advantage gave him the upper hand during that fight, otherwise he might have been in trouble. Instead of resting, William spent the next ten minutes shaping the terrain to give him a better chance of clearing a large mass of enemies.

He set up a dozen Arrays of various Elements, then timed each one to activate in tandem with another, the purpose of which would be obvious once the next level started.

Will brought out two of his Array puppets and ordered them to stand as his defense. The puppets wouldn\'t earn him Potential Points since they weren\'t Companion Beasts, so William wasn\'t willing to let the puppets kill the enemies unless absolutely necessary.

The third level started, a horde of Caverns Hobgoblins rushing out. William activated the first two Arrays once the Hobgoblins were halfway to his position, spraying water over the entire cavern floor and quickly submerging them.

The second set of Arrays were triggered, condensing the Earth Element into massive quantities of salt that were launched into the water.

Six Arrays of the Lightning Element activated at the same time, shocking the pool of water and incinerating every Hobgoblin inside.

William was ecstatic. He never expected his plan to work out so well. There were only a few dozen Hobgoblins left to kill, and he wouldn\'t even need to use Mana for the rest. Even better, his Arrays were completely undamaged and could be used again for the next level.

William cleared out the rest of the Hobgoblins and waited for the voice to acknowledge his success.

Using your brain, I see...Well done. But the next level won\'t be so easy. You have an hour to prepare yourself.

William could sense the foreboding tone of the unknown man. An hour to prepare? I have a bad feeling about this.

Most trials in the Gravitas Ruins were displayed in the open according to the Sect Master. This one was an exception, since the entrance would only be revealed once you killed the Sea Snake outside.

This place probably hadn\'t been discovered before specifically for that reason. The Cultivators that approached this lake in the past likely didn\'t want to bother fighting with a Golden Core Magical Beast that wouldn\'t even give a reward.

William stored some of the Hobgoblin corpses in his Space Ring while pondering on the difficulty of the next test. The voice seemed quite confident that William\'s Arrays wouldn\'t help him on level four, so he guessed there might not be very many enemies, or perhaps they were resistant to the Lightning Element.

Either way, William wasn\'t going to remove his current setup.

Instead, he created a series of Perfect Barrier Arrays in front of him, then a large Perfect Confinement Array in the center of the Caverns.

He raised more Earth Walls, turning the area into a maze that would only allow a few enemies to pass through at a time, covering all of his bases. If it was a single enemy, William would seal it in an Array. If it was a massive group, he would use the same plan as before.

And if they were resistant to Lightning, he had the Fire Element for that!

William looked at the System Panel.

He had over three thousand Potential Points and half an hour left to prepare, so William decided to perform another upgrade to improve his chances.
