Chapter 323: Fire Mine Extracted
He took Me Long Boi, Cyra, and Atticus along while mapping out the Azures Continent, since they could all fly and there was no need to keep them in the Providence Zone. He marked off the populated areas first, causing his fame to spread like wildfire amongst the Players and NPCs alike.
The sight of three Magical Beasts at the peak of the World and an unassuming young man made many of the onlookers both fearful and curious, but their presence only lasted for a moment, reminiscent of a myth. The few Players that aimed to track William down were left lost at every turn, discovering he had traveled hundreds of kilometers by the time they reached his last known location.
From the Far West Forest to the Hillvire Empire, back through the Southern Plains and eventually to the Far East Mistlands, William mapped out the entire Azures Continent in just over three months.
He spent two hundred thousand Potential Points along the way to hatch nine Juvenile Vermillion Pheonixes and nine Azure Wyrms, giving Cyra and Me Long a group of their own to lead. Cyra was left in the Southern Plains to deal with any Elemental Beast Tides in the Region, while Me Long was left in the Far West Mistlands.
William didn't forget to Cultivate, using their rest time to completely fill his Dantian with two million Spirit Qi. His physical power had already reached the limit of what the World could handle, but that didn't necessarily mean he couldn't Cultivate.
As long as William didn't breakthrough to the next stage, he wouldn't have to worry about being forced to Ascend.
He even took the time to visit the Fire Mine, of which the sla- Cultivators had greatly increased their pace and managed to extract the entirety of the Greater Fire Shards. They had even started working on the Flamerium two days ago, but the progress was quite slow so far and they had yet to extract a single piece.
"So this is the last of it, huh?" William looked at the warehouse completely overfull of Greater Fire Shards. A second one had been built nearby by the Cultivators, but it was incredibly crude and could only store a fraction of the Greater Fire Shards.
"This is it, Boss Will." Wen Xai replied with a bow. "We've used up every case you gave us as well, but the Flamerium might not need such an exquisite storage method."
William nodded and whisked all of the Greater Fire Shards into his Space Ring.
-Acquired Greater Fire Shard (x148183): +3,704,575 PP
POTENTIAL POINTS: 3,951,904
Almost four million Potential Points?!? William knew there would be a lot, but he didn't expect such an extravagant amount.
With four million Potential Points, he could upgrade anything he wanted! He could even push the System to the next rank easily, since he was only a hundred and thirty thousand Points away.
The System's robotic voice interrupted William's daydreaming.
-How could you not expect this much? Less than a third of the Shards were brought out last time. If anything, this is a small amount compared to what you could have earned.
Oh, would have, could have, should have but I didn't. There's no need to think about those things. All that matters is I'm still alive and that's a lot of Potential Points!
William couldn't care less about whether the System thought he was the most efficient or not. His System Quests hadn't started yet, so there was no need to rush.
William looked at Wen Xai thoughtfully, making the man a little bit nervous. The old Nascent Soul Cultivator looked to the ground in shame, thinking he must have done something wrong to make his Boss angry.
"Wen Xai, I believe you've paid off your debts." William started, filling the man with even more worry.
Is he going to kill me now that I'm not useful? Wen Xai thought.
"I see no need to suppress you anymore, so I'll be removing this." William flicked his finger and shattered the Enslavement Array on Wen Xai's shoulder.
He had no intention of stooping to the levels of Retribution and felt as long as they didn't threaten his friends and family, there would be no issue. He called the other Cultivators up from the mines, performing the same movement on each of them.
"You've all done well, even if some of you tried to escape a few times." he looked sharply at a specific individual, though the person in question had never made a move since weakening the Array.
Well, he had, but William knew nothing about the sequence of events.
The Cultivator's contact was with someone in Retribution, an old friend that he used to meet with before they tried to betray Supreme Left. Since the man's contact couldn't locate their higher-ups to inform them of his situation, no one was able to come to the man's rescue and he was left to remain in the Fire Mine.
"You can still work for me if you'd like, but it won't be as a slave. Instead, you'll come to the mine at least three days a week for a wage of two Mana Stones per day. It's not much, but I will also craft each of you a custom Artifact of your choosing with some limitations at the end of each month if you've done well."
The previously nervous Cultivators brightened up when they heard William's offer. Not only was he giving them four days off per week if they wanted, but he also would pay them a small wage! Two Mana Stones a day wasn't a small number for Golden Core Cultivators, and neither was getting a custom Artifact.
The few that had tried to escape before felt a little ashamed, not expecting something like this to happen. Given their past actions, they guessed that William must already know and would give them worse treatment in secret.
They steeled their resolve to work extra days and make up for it.
"I'll work five days, Boss William!" one of them raised their hand and spoke.
William waved in dismissal. "No need to inform me when you are coming in. Just keep Wen Xai informed."
He looked at Wen Xai, "I'll give you five Mana Stones a day and the same offer if you choose to continue working with me. What do you say?"
Wen Xai nodded. This was a better deal than he had when working with the Pillars of Justice, how could he say no?
William suddenly remembered something. "There's also a few people that will be working above you. They'll be watching the entire Continent from separate areas, I hope you don't mind. I'll bring them out now."
He waved his fingers and brought a ball of Illusion Mana from underground, allowing it to hover just a few inches above the rough ground. The Illusion Ball was dispersed, revealing the eight cloaked higher-ups from Retribution and stunning everyone silent.
